Chancellor's Statement of 13 May 2008
In a statement made on 13 May 2008, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a £600 increase in the personal allowance for 2008-2009 and a reduction in the upper limit of the basic rate tax band, from £36,000 to £34,800.
Versions of PAYExcel 2008 purchased on or after 19 July 2008 take account of the change in the basic rate limit and apply this automatically from the operable date (7 September 2008). The increase in personal allowances are to be dealt with by changes in tax codes detailed by HM Revenue & Customs on form P7X(2008)(2).
All purchasers of PAYExcel 2008 prior to 19 July 2008 have been sent a free updated workbook.
